About Robin

I’m a university educator, researcher, and administrator by day and a lover of all things arts & crafts by night. I love publication design, watercolor painting, digital illustration, sewing, jewelry-making, and all creative activities that unify the mind, body, and spirit. I am a self-taught artist and find inspiration within the beauty, brilliance, and magic of Black women and femmes, People of Color, and nature.

My art is a space of

respite,

resistance, and

reflection.

With my background as a publication journalism major and higher education scholar, I help make people’s creative and artistic visions come to life using my eye for color, design, and academic writing. I create watercolor, Posca marker, and digital portraits, posters, slide decks, workbooks, and logos for personal and professional brands (take a look here).

Viola Lou Studio is the namesake of my maternal and fraternal great-grandmother’s who are the roots of my familial heritage.

I look forward to hearing about your next project and appreciate your interest in my work!
